Hehe. The Never ending Question. ^_^ Amy and I thought quite a bit on this question, and concluded this;
Anime characters need to appear visually appealing. Seriously; would you read a manga in which the heroine has love-handles, or a big fat flub on their stomach? Probably not. That's just the truth.
But why are they automatically skinny? Why don't they have to suffer for it? We thought a lot about this one as well. Anime characters generally don't have time to worry about their weight. They have problems that we average janes don't have to deal with.
There is a manga that Amy told me about whose title I do not know, but it's about a girl that is flushed down a toilet into a fantasy realm. THAT IS A PROBLEM, wouldn't you agree? If I were in her position, I would be more concerned about finding a toilet to flush me back home rather than worry about whether or not I'm visually attractive. Maybe I'm just crazy. Maybe the majority of human beings would be more concerned about their appearance rather than find a way back home.
